What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Your privacy matters to us, and we treat your personal information that way. We only collect personal data for events that involve registration. That data is your name, email, and phone number. We only use this to verify your registration. If the event is one with Samuel, your registration data is shared with EarthLight. See https://discoversamuel.com/.

Mailing list information is stored on lists.phoenixinstitute.org. Its privacy policy is here. For the OneHeat is is here.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

Our contact form doesn't keep any personal data, but your name and email will be available in the email that is sent.

Cookies

We do use standard WordPress cookies. No personal information is stored.

Analytics

We use Webalizer to analyze traffic from our server log. It may contain your IP address, and possibly an approximate geographic location.

Who we share your data with

As mentioned in the What personal data we collect section, when you register for an event that involves Samuel, we share that information with EarthLight (see https://discoversamuel.com/).

How long we retain your data

If you register for an event, we retain that information indefinitely.

What rights you have over your data

You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we have about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we have about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. For instance, we cannot erase any purchases you have made.

How we protect your data

Your data resides in a password-protected database. We also use SSL (SHA-256 with RSA Encryption).

Payments

We accept payments through PayPal. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to PayPal, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information.
